The 6.8.5. Initiative
Psalm 68:5 A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation.
God has called us all to minister to the suffering people in the world. Although we may not be able to help everyone who is hurt or suffering in the world, we can change the life of one suffering woman at a time. There is no greater task than to relieve someone else's pain.
The 6.8.5. Initiative has joined forces with Pambazuka Ministries Uganda to stand in the gap for these vulnerable women in Uganda by offering them hope and a life redeemed. The 6.8.5. Initiative will accomplish this by managing, supporting, and facilitating the care of the women at the Selah Rescue Center. The Selah Rescue Center will house small groups of teen mothers and their children, as well as several homeless elderly widows. You can read more about the Selah Rescue Center below.
Currently there are 17 teen mothers and their babies residing at the Selah Rescue Center and soon the first of our homeless elderly widows will arrive at the Selah Rescue Center. You can read more about our teen mothers program and the elderly widows program on their respective pages on our web site.
We strive to help Christians live out Psalm 68:5 in real life by creating a beautiful healing environment for the women living at the Center.
We covet your prayers as we move out in service to suffering women in Uganda.
This is our staff with the January 2025 mission team members.
The Selah Rescue Center
The Selah Rescue Center is a facility that houses hurting and forgotten women while the Pambazuka Ministry staff offers restoration, redemption, emotional, spiritual, and physical healing from sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, teenage pregnancies, forced marriages, domestic violence, hunger, poverty, shame, etc.
Teen mothers will come and live at the Selah Rescue Center for approximately 6 months while they learn tailoring, hair dressing, literacy skills, parenting skills, health/hygiene education, proper nutrition, business training and spiritual support before returning with their children back to the village with their heads held high. The hope is that this new set of skills will set them up for success as they returned rescued, renewed, and redeemed.
The widows will reside permanently at the Selah Rescue Center as a peaceful resting place to call home and a place where they receive proper nutrition, medical care, and love in their final years. Selah Rescue Center is a place where hurting and forgotten women come to discover their worth in God's eyes as well as discover how much God loves them.
