The 6.8.5. Initiative

The 6.8.5. Initiative is the arm of Pambazuka Ministries that will manage, support, and facilitate the care at the Selah Rescue Center for the teenage mothers, their children, and the homeless elderly widows from 4 different villages in Uganda. Currently the Selah Rescue Center buildings are under renovation and the women and teen mothers are being served in their respective villages through community outreach projects and home visits.

We strive to help Christians live out Psalm 68:5 in real life by creating a beautiful healing environment for the women housed at the Center.

Psalm 68:5

A father to the Fatherless, a defender of widows,

Is God in His holy Habitation.

The Selah Rescue Center

The Selah Rescue Center is a facility that will house hurting and forgotten women while the Pambazuka Ministry staff offers restoration, redemption, emotional, spiritual, and physical healing from sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, teenage pregnancies, forced marriages, domestic violence, hunger, poverty, shame, etc.

Teen mothers will come and live at the Selah Rescue Center for a few months while they learn a vocational skill, literacy training, parenting advice, health/hygiene education, proper nutrition, and business training before returning with their children back to the village with their heads held high.

The widows will reside permanently at the Selah Rescue Center as a peaceful resting place to call home and a place where they receive proper nutrition, medical care, and love in their final years.  Selah Rescue Center is a place where hurting and forgotten women come to discover their worth in God's eyes as well as discover how much God loves them.
